Hearthstone’s Latest Update Introduces the Enigmatic Lost City of Un’Goro

Hearthstone is set to take players on a thrilling adventure with the launch of its latest expansion, the Lost City of Un’Goro, which is scheduled for release on July 8th. This expansion features 145 new cards and introduces a mix of fresh mechanics and beloved features set against the backdrop of the prehistoric Un’Goro Crater. Fans of Hearthstone will remember Un’Goro from its initial exploration in 2017. In this new journey, players will follow Loh, a Tortollan explorer, who leads an expedition into the mysterious city.

However, unknown to him, his guide Umbra has her own secret motives. Accompanying them is Elise Starseeker, adding an intriguing layer to the party dynamics. A key addition in this expansion is the new keyword, Kindred, which activates bonuses for cards when players use minions or spells of the same type or school in previous turns. Moreover, Quest cards return, with each class receiving a new Legendary Quest starting in the opening hand that offers powerful rewards upon completion.

The expansion further enriches its theme with Story and Map cards. Story cards provide insights into earlier expeditions in Un’Goro, while Map cards allow players to Discover a card and gain additional choices if played immediately after being selected. This aspect emphasizes the themes of exploration, reward, and risk. In addition to the usual Pre-Purchase and Mega Bundle options, Blizzard is introducing a Sequence Bundle unlocked after the first two are acquired.

The Mega Bundle offers a wealth of rewards, including 80 standard packs, 10 golden packs, unique Legendary cards, Tavern Tickets, and exclusive Umbra cosmetics. Players will also experience a significant overhaul of the Arena mode alongside this expansion. It now features skill-based matchmaking for newcomers and an extended format called The Underground, offering longer gameplay sessions with increased rewards for those who master their skills.
